The Maria Assumpta Sports Complex is located at the ex-Maria Assunta School, in Hamrun and includes the Malta Snooker Academy and the Handball Pavilion. The Snooker SAcademy boasts 7 professional heated snooker tables as well as 5 small tables for children and is also fully equipped with air-conditioning. It is regularly used for training purposes especially by top local players. The Malta Billiard and Snooker Association organise, at the National Snooker Academy, various tournaments such as the Snooker National League, various local ranking tournaments as well as International Snooker Competitions such as the World Snooker Federation Malta Open 2020. The handball pavilion hosts training sessions for all handball clubs for all ages in the afternoon during the week whilst in the morning it is used for schools activities. During weekends the national league competitions are organised. With a seating capacity of around 200 spectators the facility is the first phase of an extensive project to host also changing rooms and other multipurpose halls.
