SportMalta on regular basis organizes staff seminars with a variety of topics to enhance staff development on the day to day operations. SportMalta (“SM”), the national entity for sport under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation is seeking to employ a Full-time Sports Attendant (on shift basis) to work within SportMalta facilities.

Responsibilities/Duties:

·       Handles sports equipment including the setting up and dismantling of all equipment

·       Maintains the sports hall/pool deck and ancillary facilities in a good state of repair and clean on a regular basis

·       Performs supervisory duties throughout the sports hall/pool deck area to ensure that clients are in no danger to themselves and to others and no damage/vandalism is caused to the premises

·       Administers firefighting in case of emergency.  The entity will offer course.

·       Assist the cleaners in the cleaning of the facility in case of emergency.

·       Provides service to visitors requiring special attention such as families with small children and teachers with students

·       Control clients that will be entering the Facility to ensure that all necessary payments have been effected

·       Performs light maintenance works in conjunction with the maintenance personnel in emergency cases

·       Replaces the front office staff in emergency cases

·       Discharge such other responsibilities in line with sports attendant duties

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

·       School Leaving Certificate

·       A clean and recent Police Conduct

·       Should be knowledgeable and know how to swim

The position reports to the Facility Manager.  Additional duties may be assigned and this job description may change without notice at the discretion of management.

Sports attendants are not necessarily appointed to a specific location and can be asked to perform duties in other complexes, ranges and buildings with SportMalta both in Malta and in Gozo.

SportMalta is the national entity for sports under the responsibility of the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, which has as its main objectives the promotion and encouragement of the development of increased participation in sports in Malta, as well as the fostering of cooperation in sports with local and international bodies and entities for the encouragement and promotion of the development of sport programmes and initiatives.

Main Duties:

  • Assisting in book-keeping and preparing of payment runs;
  • Recording and reconciling all bank statements on a monthly basis including petty cash;
  • Reconciling and recording revenue collected including the deposit of such funds;
  • Maintaining an up-to-date filing system for all transactions;
  • Providing accounting and financial assistance in closing off the end of year audit;
  • Ensuring that debts are paid in a timely manner and chase debtors when needed;
  • Maintaining accurate records of all aching activities and monitoring changes in payment patterns;
  • Responding promptly and completely to both client and internal enquiries;
  • Ensuring processing timeframes are met as required;
  • Maintaining accounting database of key information as required;
  • Keeping abreast of developments in the field of accounting;
  • Confirming that all invoices received for payment have been authorized;
  • Reconciling supplier statements to the entity’s accounting needs; and,
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Managers and the Director in Finance.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MQF Level 4 in Accounting and one year experience in a similar role; or,
  • MQF Level 5 in Accounting or any related field as an asset; and,
  • Proficiency in Maltese and English.

This role calls for an organised team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is able to work on own initiative and within a team.

Note:The allocation of duties from the list mentioned above, assigned to the new engaged employee, will be at the discretion of the Head of the Department. However, the Accounts Officer should be able to perform these duties in line with SportMalta’s Standard Operating Procedures.
