The European Week of Sport continued with a fun-filled day of activities organised by Bormla Local Council. As part of the celebrations, a football match was held between St George’s Nursery in Bormla and the nursery of Kerċem.

This partnership aims to strengthen friendship and collaboration between the two localities, fostering community spirit through sport. Children from both communities showcased their talents and participated with energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork, making the day a memorable experience for everyone involved.

This event marks the beginning of many exciting collaborations between Bormla and Kerċem, highlighting the power of sport to bring communities together while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

Kikrop Primary Takes Part in SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025

On Wednesday, 15th October 2025, Kikrop Primary proudly participated in the SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025, held as part of the European Week of Sport and promoted under the #BeActive campaign. All 150 students, from Kindergarten to Year 6, took part in a day filled with fun, movement, and teamwork.

Kindergarten students enjoyed activities to keep them active while developing coordination and focus. Years 1 to 3 explored Maltese traditional games promoting teamwork and cultural heritage.

Years 4 to 6 rotated through different sports stations encouraging agility, coordination, and friendly competition.

The day was a resounding success, filled with laughter, energy, and teamwork, showing how sport can bring students together while promoting physical activity, fun, and sportsmanship.

The event featured a series of fun and engaging sports activities designed to suit the developmental levels of the students while promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Gozo College Ninu Cremona Secondary School Takes Part in SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025

Gozo College Ninu Cremona Secondary School proudly joined the SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025, held as part of the European Week of Sport and promoted under the #BeActive campaign. The event aimed to encourage students to embrace physical activity, teamwork, and the joy of sport.

On 15th October 2025, the school organised football and handball tournaments for Year 11 students. Eight teams, one from each class, competed in exciting Quarterfinals and Semifinals during the 6th lesson, with the finals taking place during the mid-day break.

In addition, students had the opportunity to participate in an introductory cricket lesson, designed to promote new sports and broaden their sporting experiences.

The day was a great success, combining competition, teamwork, and the chance to discover new activities, all in the spirit of #BeActive.

Stella Maris College Junior School Takes Part in SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025

As part of the European Week of Sport, Stella Maris College Junior School Malta proudly joined the SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025.

Held on Friday, 26th September 2025, the event brought together 288 students from Grades 3 to 6 and around 50 staff members in a day filled with movement, teamwork, and fun. Despite the rainy weather, all activities went ahead as planned under the school’s special theme for the year:
“We all belong! All is connected! – Let us Get a Whole School Moving – ESSD 2025.”

The celebration began with a one-mile walk around the school grounds, followed by a movement-to-music workshop led by a Grade 4 teacher and supported by two Learning Support Educators. Students also enjoyed fun game stations and football exercises organised by coaches from Sliema Wanderers Football Youth Academy, who regularly collaborate with the school.

Organised and coordinated by PE teacher Mr. Ramon Formosa, the day was a resounding success. The students’ laughter, chants, and enthusiasm created a wonderful atmosphere that truly embodied the spirit of ESSD and the European Week of Sport — promoting health, inclusion, and the joy of being active together.

Vittoriosa Primary School Takes Part in SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025

As part of the European Week of Sport, Vittoriosa Primary School proudly participated in the SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2025, joining schools across Malta and Gozo in celebrating the importance of physical activity, teamwork, and fun under the #BeActive campaign.

To promote these values, students from Years 4, 5, and 6 took part in a day filled with exciting activities and team challenges. Organised by the school’s PE teacher, the event included favourites such as tug of war, three-legged races, and wheelbarrow races, which brought plenty of laughter and friendly competition.

Students also enjoyed a circuit challenge, where they worked in groups to design and complete fitness circuits that tested endurance, agility, and coordination. Larger team games like dodgeball and capture the flag added even more excitement, giving students the chance to use their communication and teamwork skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Teachers joined in on the action too, helping and cheering alongside the students, creating a wonderful sense of unity and school spirit.

The day was a great success, full of energy, smiles, and sportsmanship. Vittoriosa Primary School’s Sports Day truly reflected the spirit of #BeActive, showing how sport can bring people together, encourage teamwork, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all.

Elevating Sports Management in Malta: Game-Changing Leadership

The “Elevating Sports Management in Malta: Game-Changing Leadership” mobility project is a 6-day professional development programme in collaboration with EUPA and Erasmus+, designed to strengthen sports management expertise through hands-on learning, innovation, and collaboration.

Throughout the week between the 13th and 18th of October, SportMalta’s Managerial team will engage in a series of activities aimed at enhancing leadership, sustainability, digital transformation, and inclusivity in the sports sector.

A central feature of the programme is job shadowing, where participants will observe and learn directly from experienced professionals in sports management, facility operations, and event coordination. This practical experience will deepen their understanding of strategic decision-making and leadership in action.

The programme also includes a Digital Transformation Workshop, focusing on smart booking systems and performance tracking tools to modernise sports administration and improve operational efficiency. Participants will visit sustainable sports venues to explore eco-friendly practices and assess accessibility for persons with disabilities, promoting both inclusivity and environmental responsibility.

A highlight of the week is the European Week of Sport (EWoS) Workshop, facilitated by the Portuguese Ministry of Sport, which will encourage the exchange of best practices and strategies for grassroots sports development across Europe.

To complement these learning experiences, participants will visit a professional sports clubs, gaining first-hand insights into event management, fan engagement, and high-level operations.

By the end of the programme, participants will have developed stronger professional competencies, built international connections, and acquired innovative tools and strategies to support SportMalta’s ongoing mission to elevate sports management standards and leadership across the island.
