#BeActive Roller-Skating Event Brings the Community Together

Last week, SportMalta’s #BeActive programme once again succeeded in bringing the community together, this time through a fun-filled roller-skating event that welcomed both adults and children.

 The activity offered something for everyone, from beginner-friendly coaching sessions and safety demonstrations to group games and open-skate sessions. Whether new to skating or more experienced, participants had the chance to enjoy the sport in a safe and supportive environment.

 The event highlighted roller-skating as not only an enjoyable pastime but also an excellent way to improve fitness, coordination, and confidence. By creating an inclusive space for all skill levels, the session reflected the true spirit of the #BeActive campaign, making physical activity accessible, engaging, and fun for the whole community.

Starlites Basketball Club Promotes Active Lifestyles at Loutraki Sport Youth Camp

As part of the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign, Starlites Basketball Club organised an exciting week-long programme of training and activities at the Loutraki Sport Youth Camp.

 A total of 43 young athletes, aged between 11 and 15, took part in this enriching experience. The programme combined basketball training with a variety of complementary activities including swimming, sand training, and strength & conditioning sessions. This mix of disciplines not only improved the participants’ sporting skills but also highlighted the importance of versatility, teamwork, and overall fitness.

 By engaging in different types of physical activity, the young athletes experienced the benefits of sport in a fun and dynamic way while building lifelong habits that align with the #BeActive message. Beyond improving their technical and physical abilities, the camp also fostered friendship, resilience, and confidence among participants.

 Through initiatives like this, Starlites Basketball Club continues to play an important role in nurturing the next generation of athletes while contributing to the national and European drive to encourage more young people to embrace active and healthy lifestyles.

Otters Fest Aqua STEM Hunt – A #BeActive Adventure

As part of the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign, SportMalta proudly supported the Otters Fest Aqua STEM Hunt, held on Tuesday 2nd September.

 

A total of 40 young adventurers took part in this exciting challenge, diving into the sea and racing across land to solve water polo–themed math clues. Each clue brought them closer to cracking the secret code, with the thrill building until the final padlock was unlocked. The first team to solve the puzzle and open the lock claimed the win, celebrating both teamwork and determination.

 

The Aqua STEM Hunt combined sport, education, and fun, highlighting the importance of staying active while engaging young minds through problem-solving and teamwork.

 

This event forms part of the wider European Week of Sport celebrations in Malta, reminding us all that no matter the activity, it’s always the right time to #BeActive.

SportMalta and Mosta Basketball Club Team Up for European Week of Sport

As part of the European Week of Sport, SportMalta in collaboration with Mosta Basketball Club successfully hosted a Basketball Camp, bringing together young athletes from across Malta for an unforgettable learning experience.

The camp provided participants with the opportunity to develop their basketball fundamentals through expert coaching, skill-based drills, and fun competitive games. Sessions focused on ball handling, shooting, defense, teamwork, and game understanding, with special emphasis on discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.

Beyond technical development, the camp also promoted the key values of the #BeActive campaign, encouraging children and youths to stay engaged in regular physical activity, adopt healthy lifestyles, and enjoy the social benefits of sport.

The Basketball Camp created an inspiring atmosphere where players not only improved their basketball skills but also built friendships and confidence, living the true spirit of the European Week of Sport.

White Hart Celebrates Hockey in #BeActive Week

On Saturday 6th September, White Hart proudly hosted its End of Summer Hockey Celebration within the European Week of Sport Club Initiative, a fun-filled day marking the achievements, energy, and passion shown throughout the club’s summer hockey programme.

The event brought together young players from the summer training sessions for one last day of hockey before the new season.

Almost 70 children, aged between 5 and 12 took to the pitch to enjoy an action-packed schedule. Six hockey stations gave players the chance to test their skills, take on fun challenges, and work together as a team. The highlight of the day came with the lively 5-a-side matches, where the young players put their practice into action in front of cheering families and friends.

The atmosphere was full of smiles, energy, and enthusiasm a perfect way to honour the European Week of Sport.

Fitness and Fun as SIGMA Kicks Off #BeActive

 The event brought together people of all ages to enjoy a variety of activities, including fitness sessions, wellness workshops, and interactive games designed to promote healthy lifestyles.

 This exciting morning marked the kick-off of a month-and-a-half-long European Week of Sport campaign in Malta, aimed at inspiring citizens to stay active and embrace the benefits of physical activity.

 With a focus on fun, inclusion, and wellness, the event set the tone for a dynamic campaign encouraging everyone to #BeActive and prioritize health and well-being throughout the coming weeks.

#OnTheMove is back – 19th Edition

#OnTheMove is back for its 19th Edition, the biggest and most popular programme for kids and adults is back in different venues with sessions at different times to fit your routine.

The sessions will begin on the 15th of October and make their way till the 26th of May.  One can take part in various sports and fitness activities, most definitely you will find something that you will like and keep you active!

Sessions are available to all ages from young children to adults tailoring for different levels. With the notion that sport is for everyone, regardless of age or means, #OnTheMove hopes to boost sports activism from a young age.

Run, Shoot and #BeActive – Netball

On the 14th of September the Malta Netball Association organised an event consisting of non-players and elite players to introduce new individuals to netball and experience the sport for the first time.

 

This activity was a part of the Mellieha Sports Club 75th Anniversary and along with SportMalta and #BeActive this event was possible to attract many individuals. The Mellieha female team was made up of various ages, including players that play in the Open Senior Team and also the U21 Team. It was a great and successful event to get players of all ages involved and #Beactive.

Kirkop Primary School Celebrates SportMalta School Sports Day with Fun-Filled Activities and Teamwork

On the 11th of October, Kirkop Primary School hosted a successful Sports Day as part of the SportMalta School Sports Day celebrations. The entire school actively participated in a series of fun and engaging activities, designed to promote physical fitness and teamwork.

The day followed a well-structured timetable for all the primary school students. A total of 136 students, along with their teachers and support staff, took part in the day’s activities.

Six sports stations were set up, with four stations remaining consistent for all groups and two stations adapted according to the students’ age groups. The activities included skipping rope, walking on stilts, relay races, the popular “Steal the Tag” game, an obstacle course, and a penalty shootout.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy physical activity in a fun and supportive environment. It reinforced the importance of fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, all while fostering a sense of school spirit and enjoyment among the children.
