Summer on the Move 2025 Launching 7th July Across Six SportMalta Complexes

SportMalta News July 4, 2025 0

SportMalta is proud to announce the much-anticipated return of Summer on the Move, Malta’s national summer sports programme, which continues to serve as a cornerstone initiative aimed at encouraging physical activity, promoting healthy lifestyles, and ensuring that summer is both fun and enriching for everyone. The 2025 edition will officially kick off on Monday, 7th July, and will be hosted across six SportMalta complexes strategically located around the islands.

This year’s edition marks a particularly exciting milestone with the inclusion of two newly added facilities, Maria Assumpta and Marsa, which will complement the already established venues at Tal-Qroqq, Kirkop, Mosta, and Cottonera. These additional complexes offer increased accessibility and capacity, allowing more participants to enjoy high quality sports infrastructure. With upgraded amenities, modern equipment, and spacious environments, these new locations significantly enhance the overall experience and enable even greater participation from communities across Malta.

A standout feature of Summer on the Move 2025 is the introduction of a specialised 5-day Gymnastics Camp, to be held exclusively at the Marsa complex. This camp promises an immersive and supportive experience, perfect for both beginners and those with existing interest in gymnastics. Led by SportMalta’s experienced and certified coaching team, the camp provides a dynamic, skill-building environment focused on body awareness, coordination, discipline, and fun.

To accommodate busy family schedules, all complexes will open their doors at 07:30 hrs, allowing for early drop-off options. The morning sessions begin promptly at 08:00 hrs, and follow a structured timetable filled with engaging, age-appropriate activities tailored to boost physical fitness, social skills, and confidence in a safe and inclusive setting.

In line with SportMalta’s mission to promote lifelong wellness, the 2025 programme has been further expanded to include morning sessions specifically designed for adults aged 17 and over. These include Swimming, Aqua Fitness, Dance Fitness, and Yoga, ensuring that adults also can stay active, relieve stress, and engage with their community through movement and mindful exercise.

Moreover, one-hour afternoon sessions will be offered at various complexes, catering to both children and adults who may prefer or require later activity times. These sessions provide added flexibility while maintaining SportMalta’s standards of quality coaching, variety, and fun.

A significant new focus in this year’s programme is the evening sessions, which have been designed to further develop sporting fundamentals, particularly for younger participants. These sessions place a strong emphasis on strengthening the ABCs Agility, Balance, and Coordination, the foundational elements for physical development in all sports. Children will benefit from expert-led, fun, and engaging exercises that support their long-term athletic growth and personal development.

A diverse range of sports will be offered during the evening, including basketball, athletics, karate, judo, gymnastics, and more. These options allow young participants to explore different disciplines, discover new interests, and improve their technical skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

For adults, evening fitness classes will also be available, ensuring that the entire family can take part in healthy, active routines throughout the day. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, there’s a class to suit every fitness level and personal goal.
