For the second time, the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta in collaboration with SportMalta and the Ministry of sport will once again host the Champions League Final 4, which will be held between the 30th of May and the 1st of June at the National Pool, Tal-Qroqq.
During yesterdayâs press conference, the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Hon. Clifton Grima, stated that hosting the biggest competition in waterpolo in Malta is clear proof that the investment made in sports is a success. He added that all this gives even more strength to continue investing in sport.
From his end, ASA President Karl Izzo gave details about the preparations and explained thatâjust like last year, but on a bigger scaleâthe event will once again feature a Sporting Village, and that all Final 4 games will be transmitted not only locally but also on various international networks, reaching an even wider audience.
CEO of SportMalta and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mark Cutajar said that the involvement of SportMalta is crucial to ensure that this prestigious event is once again a successful one. He also noted that it is thanks to the collaboration with various sports entities that Malta continues to attract top international events to be hosted locally.
This yearâs edition of the Final 4 will also inaugurate the newly installed permanent lighting system at the National Pool, a âŽ135,000 investment which will benefit all aquatic disciplines. This state-of-the-art lighting will enhance the experience of both international and local aquatic events going forward.
Additionally, during the same week as the Champions League Final 4, the SportMalta Cup will also take place, featuring the top four local waterpolo clubs competing to win the second edition of this local tournament.
On the day of the Champions League Final, a Fan Zone will be set up, complete with entertainment, food stalls, and live music by the popular group Tikka Banda, making it a full sporting and cultural celebration.
To ensure the smooth running of the event and safety of attendees, access by car to the National Pool will be restricted from the 30th of May to the 1st of June. The road leading to the pool near St Monica School will be closed to traffic and accessible only by foot. For convenience, the University Football Ground will be open for public parking.

To ensure the younger generation doesnât miss out, free tickets will be distributed to all waterpolo nurseries across the island.
We will soon know the four teams who will battle it out in the Final 4. In Group A, Marseille (FRA) and Novi Beograd (SRB) are currently tied at the top with 9 points each from 4 games, followed by Olympiacos (GRC) in third with 5 points.
In Group B, the competition remains wide open: Ferencvaros (HUN) leads with 10 points, followed by Barceloneta (ESP) with 8 points, and Savona (ITA) close behind.
All eyes are now on the upcoming matches to see who will earn their spot in Maltaâs showpiece Final 4 event.
