On Friday, 11th October, St Nicholas College – Rabat Primary School participated in the SportMalta European Sports Day. The event was specifically organized for the Year 1 students.

Led by P.E. teacher Mr. Jamie Muscat, a total of 50 students took part in a series of fun and engaging physical activities. Nine different stations were set up, each designed to last about 10 minutes, allowing the students to rotate through and experience a variety of sports and exercises. These stations included an obstacle course, jumping over hurdles, football, basketball, balance beams, balancing a quote on the head, and gymnastics-focused rolling exercises.

The students had the chance to develop and reinforce several important physical skills. These included throwing an object overarm, kicking a ball forward, moving with control and coordination, balancing on one foot, and engaging in interactive games with their peers.

Through this event, the students not only enjoyed themselves but also made meaningful progress towards key learning outcomes. The day promoted both physical development and teamwork, ensuring the students understood the importance of staying active while having fun.

Mellieħa Primary School hosted an exciting and action-packed European Schools Sports Day, coordinated by Ms. Elvira Buttigieg and Mr. Michael Micallef. Each year group took turns rotating through a series of sports stations, where they tackled various challenges while having a great time.

The younger students enjoyed parachute games, racing to remove softballs without touching them, and had fun rolling yoga balls across the yard and running to catch up. Older students participated in football skill stations, dribbling and scoring goals, while also testing their balance in the “Balancing Act,” where they walked with tennis balls on rackets over hurdles, trying not to drop them.

Another favorite activity was “Blast Off,” where students launched rockets and dashed to retrieve them, adding a sense of excitement and competition. Throughout the day, students demonstrated teamwork, learned new skills, and enjoyed friendly competition in a lively outdoor environment.

The event successfully promoted the importance of staying and working together, with every student having a fantastic time while getting plenty of exercise.

This event was specifically organised for Year 6 students, with approximately 120 students participating. The goal of the Sports Day was to promote physical activity and encourage students to adopt a healthy lifestyle while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.

The event featured six stations, each designed to create a fun and competitive environment. Each activity lasted 8-10 minutes, allowing students ample time to engage and enjoy.

The four stations included a Football Fun Drill, where students practiced dribbling and shooting for points, an Athletics Obstacle Course focusing on teamwork and endurance, a Hybrid Mini-Game combining rugby and handball to enhance agility, and a Hula Hoop Fun Race to build coordination and mobility.

Despite some challenges, such as limited space for additional stations, the event was a success. All students participated enthusiastically, developing fundamental sports skills while fostering teamwork and friendly competition.

On the 11th of October 2024, Marsa Primary School participated in the SportMalta European School Sports Day, a dynamic event aimed at promoting physical activity, healthy competition, and sportsmanship among students. On the 11th of October 2024, St Joseph School Blata l-Bajda Primary organized a lively Zumba session for the entire primary school, including students from kindergarten to Year 6. On the 11th of October, St Monica Primary School Gzira enthusiastically participated in the SportMalta School Sports Day, reaching 207 students from Grades 4, 5, and 6. Each class, divided into two groups, engaged in a range of physical activities, with 15-minute slots allocated to each station. This was the school’s first time joining the event, and it provided an opportunity to promote physical activity, healthy competition, and sportsmanship among students. As a school that actively participates in the I’mPOSSIBLE educational programme, the event was also designed to challenge students’ perceptions of individuals with disabilities, fostering inclusivity through Paralympic sports.

The event focused on two parasports from the I’mPOSSIBLE programme—Boccia and athletics for the visually impaired. Sitting Boccia, a precision-based sport adapted for athletes with physical disabilities, allowed students to experience the excitement of a game where physical strength is not the key factor. Meanwhile, a continuous relay, where students were blindfolded to simulate visual impairment, highlighted the challenges faced by athletes with disabilities. Students worked together in pairs, emphasizing trust, coordination, and communication.

In addition to the physical activities, parents were engaged through emails, with links provided for follow-along workouts, including exercises suited for people with mobility difficulties. The day was a resounding success, fostering empathy, teamwork, and an inclusive spirit among the students.
