As part of the European Week of Sport celebration, Gozo College Agius De Soldanis Middle School organized a trekking activity for all Year 8 students, with 240 participants in total. This event aimed to promote walking as an accessible and enjoyable form of exercise, aligning with the school’s PE curriculum.
The students embarked on the trek from the school, walking towards Capuchins’ Street and heading in the direction of Marsalforn. The group then veered off into the valley along Marsalforn Road, eventually re-emerging on the main road. The trek continued through scenic country roads until the group reached Villa Fiorita, then proceeded to Xwejni Bay and the famous Salt Pans.
To conclude the activity, students were provided with water and fresh fruit, refreshing them after the long trek. A huge well done goes to all the students who participated and demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the event.
Special thanks go to the ERRC Ambulance Service, the traffic police, and all the teachers and learning support educators who ensured the safety and supervision of the students during the activity. The event, organized by the PE department at Agius De Soldanis Middle School, was a great success, highlighting the importance of physical activity in a fun and engaging way.
