Gozo College, Żebbuġ Primary School, recently organized a fun and engaging Sports Day as part of the SportMalta School Sports Day initiative. The event focused on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles among students, particularly the Early Years classes.
The day started with simple exercises, guided by educators and supported by a video projected on the cyclorama. These activities helped introduce the students to basic movements and stretches in an enjoyable and accessible way. Following this, all the students gathered in the playground, where they were divided into different stations based on their class. Each station presented fun challenges, including hopping, moving sideways, and backwards, encouraging students to engage in a variety of movements.
To wrap up the day, each class participated in a flat race in the school playground, replacing the usual Daily Mile due to the warm weather. Despite the heat, the students were full of energy and enthusiasm, showing great excitement throughout the event.
The Sports Day was a success, helping students understand the value of regular movement for fitness and stress relief. Moving forward, it was suggested that these simple exercises be integrated into the school’s daily morning assembly routine to continue fostering an active and healthy lifestyle.
