On Sunday, 5th October, Selmun Sports Club proudly organised the Ladies Weightlifting Challenge at the Selmun Family Park, Mellieħa, marking their first event for the European Week of Sport (EWoS). The event embodied the spirit of the #BeActive campaign, encouraging participation, inclusion, and empowerment through sport.
Female athletes, aged between 13 and 41 years, took to the platform and delivered an outstanding display of strength, determination, and camaraderie. Their performance not only showcased their personal achievements but also served as an inspiring message to all women and girls, proving that weightlifting is a sport for everyone. The participants supported and motivated each other throughout the challenge, reflecting the true essence of sportsmanship and the #BeActive mindset.
The Ladies Weightlifting Challenge highlighted the growing participation of women in strength sports and reinforced SportMaltaâs mission to foster inclusion, wellbeing, and lifelong engagement in physical activity. Events like these perfectly capture the essence of the European Week of Sport, bringing communities together to celebrate movement, health, and empowerment.
Letâs continue to #BeActive and inspire others to take part in sport, every day!
