As part of the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign, students from Year 3 to Year 6 at Patri Felic Sammut – St. Paul’s Bay Primary School took part in a variety of activities aimed at promoting physical activity, teamwork, and community awareness.The day began with a guided walk around
the local community, allowing students to observe features such as the seaside, Wigna Court, promenade, shops, and local viewpoints. The walk encouraged healthy lifestyle habits, social interaction, and a sense of connection to the community, while emphasising safety and respect for public spaces. Students actively engaged and showed interest in learning more about their surroundings, supporting both physical and mental well-being.
Younger students took part in a supervised walk around the school environment, exploring local landmarks like Wigna Court and Gżejjer ta’ San Pawl. This activity promoted responsibility, teamwork, and awareness of school boundaries, while helping students familiarise themselves with their school’s layout.
Back in the school yard, physical activity stations were set up for Kinder 1 and Year 1 students, focusing on developing balance, coordination, strength, and endurance. Students rotated through each station under teacher supervision, enjoying the structured exercises that encouraged teamwork and self-discipline.
A coordinated group movement session in the school hall involved gross motor skills, stretching, and simple dance routines for Kinder 2 and Year 2 students. Music and guidance helped students stay synchronised and motivated, fostering unity, coordination, and enjoyment of physical activity in a social setting.
Overall, the SportMalta Schools Sports Day was a resounding success, providing opportunities for students to stay active, develop new skills, and connect with their peers and community in a safe and inclusive environment.
