Last Saturday marked the official launch of SportMalta’s much-anticipated OnTheMove programme, a national initiative designed to promote physical activity and well-being across Malta and Gozo. The programme, which caters to a wide range of age groups and fitness levels, started with high-energy sessions, welcoming back regular participants and introducing new faces to a variety of sporting activities.
A Full Line-Up of Programmes for All Ages
OnTheMove is not just another fitness programme—it’s a comprehensive, island-wide initiative that brings together people from all walks of life to get moving, stay active, and have fun. SportMalta has designed an extensive offering of classes and activities to cater to different fitness interests and abilities.
Here’s a breakdown of some of the key programmes:
Adult Fitness Classes: For those looking to improve their overall fitness, SportMalta offers a variety of classes, including aerobics, body conditioning, and strength training. These sessions are led by qualified trainers who guide participants through dynamic routines designed to improve cardiovascular health, strength, and endurance.
Dance Classes: Perfect for individuals who want to enjoy a fun, rhythm-filled workout, the dance sessions include everything from Zumba to line-dancing. These high-energy classes combine fitness and fun, allowing participants to learn new moves while staying active.
Children’s Sports Programmes: OnTheMove offers a wide range of activities for children and young athletes, including gymnastics, athletics, football, and swimming. These sessions are structured to develop coordination, teamwork, and a love for sport from an early age.
Water-Based Activities:For water lovers, the programme includes swimming sessions and aqua aerobics. These low-impact exercises are ideal for improving flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular fitness, all while having fun in the water.
A Strong Community Spirit
One of the highlights of OnTheMove is the sense of community that it fosters. Each session brings together like-minded individuals who are committed to leading a healthier lifestyle. Whether it’s beginners looking to start their fitness journey or experienced athletes pushing their limits, participants support and motivate each other through every session.
The programme takes place at various SportMalta facilities across the islands, including state-of-the-art gyms, sports complexes, and swimming pools, ensuring that every participant has access to the best resources.
An Ongoing Commitment to Wellness
The start of OnTheMove is only the beginning. The programme runs throughout the year, with a packed schedule of sessions designed to cater to Malta’s diverse sporting community. The sessions are led by experienced coaches and instructors who are passionate about promoting fitness and wellness.
SportMalta’s OnTheMove initiative is part of a broader national effort to promote a healthy lifestyle and improve the overall well-being of Malta’s population. It is an opportunity for participants to not only improve their physical health but also to boost mental well-being, reduce stress, and build lasting friendships.
While all sessions are pre-booked due to the overwhelming response, SportMalta encourages everyone to stay updated on future opportunities and sessions through their website and social media channels.
Looking Ahead
The first day of OnTheMove has set the tone for an exciting programme ahead. With a wide range of activities on offer and hundreds of participants already engaged, this promises to be one of SportMalta’s most successful fitness initiatives to date.
