Fgura Primary School celebrated SportMalta School Sports Day 2026 as part of the European Week of Sport, with six Year 6 classes participating in a variety of sporting activities designed to encourage physical activity, teamwork, and friendly competition.

The event took place between 9:00am and 10:00am and featured six activity stations: golf, handball, Tic-Tac-Toe, Hit the Targets, football, and volleyball. Pupils rotated between the stations, spending seven minutes at each activity, with additional time allocated to moving between challenges.

During the golf station, pupils tested their accuracy, concentration, and hand-eye coordination by directing golf balls towards designated targets. The handball station encouraged teamwork and communication through small-sided games, while the physical Tic-Tac-Toe challenge combined running, quick reactions, and strategic thinking.

At the Hit the Targets station, pupils navigated hurdles before jumping on trampolines and throwing balls towards designated targets. This activity challenged their agility, balance, timing, and coordination. Meanwhile, the football and volleyball stations allowed pupils to practise fundamental sporting skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting and ball control, while working together as a team.

The activities were organised to maximise participation and minimise waiting time, ensuring that pupils remained actively involved throughout the session. The combination of individual challenges and team games also provided opportunities for students with different interests and abilities to participate and enjoy themselves.

The event highlighted the importance of introducing children to different sports in an enjoyable and inclusive environment, while reinforcing the values of teamwork, fair play and cooperation.
