SportMalta continued to promote physical activity and active participation among young learners through its school Sports Day initiative at Żabbar A Primary, where Year 1 and Year 2 pupils took part in a series of fun and interactive sporting activities.

The session featured six activity stations designed to encourage movement, coordination, teamwork, and friendly competition in an enjoyable environment. Through a variety of games, pupils had the opportunity to develop their physical skills while lea rning the importance of cooperation and participation.

Activities included Shuttle in the Bucket, where pupils competed in teams to collect and transfer beanbags into buckets, and Pass the Hoop, which challenged participants to pass a hoop around a circle without letting go of one another’s hands.

Other activities included Rock, Paper, Scissors, which combined movement and decision-making as pupils jumped through a sequence of hoops, and Head, Shoulders, Knees, Ball, a reaction game in which pupils worked in pairs to respond to commands and grab a ball as quickly as possible.
Pupils also participated in Put the Beanbag Inside the Hoop, aiming to score points by throwing beanbags into hoops, while the parachute activity encouraged coordination and collective participation through different movements, including creating waves and changing direction.
Through these activities, SportMalta’s School Sports Day initiative provides pupils with opportunities to enjoy physical activity, develop fundamental movement skills and experience the benefits of being active together.
