During the week ending on 11 October 2024, STMC Carlo Diacono Middle and Secondary School in Żejtun hosted an energetic SportMalta School Sports event that engaged over 900 students from Years 7 to 11. The event celebrated physical activity, teamwork, and community spirit through a variety of games and sports.
The week began with a school assembly, where the Maltese anthem was played, and the Head of School delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of staying active and the benefits of regular movement. The event’s activities were tailored for different age groups, ensuring everyone could participate fully.
Middle school students enjoyed athletic competitions, including the 70m, 200m, and 400m sprints, the Ball Throw, and a 4x200m Relay, fostering friendly competition and full engagement. Fun games like the Shuttle Relay, Skipping Game, Football Dribbling, and Memory Game encouraged teamwork and enjoyment.
For secondary students, the week offered Archery, Football Shoot-Outs, Obstacle Courses, Tug of War, and Mass Movement activities. Competitive sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Capture the Flag, and Adapted Handball provided a chance for students to showcase their skills in a supportive, inclusive atmosphere.
The week concluded with an assembly where the Head of School praised students’ enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship, encouraging them to carry this spirit of physical activity throughout the year.
