We are thrilled to share the wonderful experience at Gozo College Nadur Primary during the SportMalta School Sports Day, held on October 11th. The event was a highlight for the school, and extensive preparations were made to ensure students understood the importance of sports in their lives.
Informative talks with every class were held, explaining the purpose of the SportMalta School Sports Day and its alignment with the European Week of Sport. The 2024 priorities of inclusion, well-being, and belonging were discussed and set a meaningful tone for the event. Each student received handouts with insights into the event, which further reinforced the message.
On the day, 173 students from Year 1 to Year 6 participated, filling the school grounds with excitement. The space was decorated, and all equipment was labelled with “SportMalta School Sports Day,” adding to the festive atmosphere.
This event went beyond fun games. Students understood that sports are for everyone, not just athletes. They learned that it fosters inclusion, boosts self-esteem, and connects people across generations. Each class was awarded a certificate, proudly displayed in their classrooms, as a reminder of their achievements.
The day was a success, leaving our students with a deeper appreciation for sports.
