Last Friday, St. Patrick’s Salesian School had a fantastic time celebrating the SportMalta Schools Sports Day 2023. The day was made even more special with a visit from a remarkable sports personality, Mr. Nicky Farrugia, who is a Triathlete Champion. He shared his inspiring journey with the students, which included an incredible feat of swimming from Sicily to Gozo back in 1985.
After Mr. Farrugia’s motivating talk, the entire school was all set to participate in the European Schools Sports Day. The students and staff at St. Patrick’s Salesian School were split into two groups for various activities. One group enjoyed a refreshing 40-minute walk along the beautiful Promenade in Sliema, taking in the fresh air and scenic views. Meanwhile, the other group got into the sporting spirit with a friendly basketball tournament.
The fun didn’t stop there! More exciting activities awaited everyone. The day concluded with a thrilling mini football tournament played on three mini pitches with tiny goal posts. Teams were formed with both school staff and students, creating a bond between them. While the games did have some healthy competition, the prevailing atmosphere was one of camaraderie and friendliness.
It was a memorable day where everyone celebrated the joy of sports and physical activity, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork at St. Patrick’s Salesian School.
