Stella Maris College Junior School joined to celebrate the SportMalta School Sports Day and promote the #BeActive movement. This event aligns with the mission to encourage students to âkick-off a lifetime of healthâ through fun and engaging physical activities.
Guided by PE teacher Mr. Ramon Formosa, the school organised various activities aimed at promoting physical activity. The event started with a 1-mile walk for all students, setting the tone for a day full of movement. Following the walk, students participated in a dynamic fitness and dance workshop led by Ms. Kim Spiteri and her dance students. This workshop not only promoted physical activity but also challenged stereotypes, encouraging boys to enjoy dance as much as girls.
In collaboration with the Sliema Wanderers Football Club youth academy, additional stations were set up, offering football skills-based activities alongside general physical activity challenges. These stations included obstacle courses designed to enhance studentsâ fundamental movement skills with varying levels of difficulty to suit all abilities.
The two-hour event was a resounding success, fulfilling the SportMalta School Sports Day goals of making physical activity enjoyable, promoting lifelong fitness, and fostering teamwork and inclusion. It was a day packed with fun and movement, helping students embrace a healthy, active lifestyle.
