On a Sunday morning, Caritas’ Run for Life took place, and it had more than 800 participants of all ages. Among them, there were over 60 people who had completed residential drug rehabilitation programs.
This event was organized in partnership with the SportMalta and St Patrick’s Athletic Club. It had races for adults, with options of 5km and 10km runs or a 2.5km walk. There were also shorter runs of 2.5km and 1km for kids, many of whom are part of various athletic clubs in Malta.
The starting point for all the runs was at the San Blas Therapeutic Community in Żebbuġ, where Caritas Malta offers programs to help men and women recover from substance abuse.
During the event, Anthony Gatt, the director of Caritas Malta, spoke to the participants and emphasized how the venue had helped thousands of people regain their lives, partly through promoting sports activities.
Gatt encouraged everyone to send a message to society that a healthy, happy, and drug-free life is possible.
The event wrapped up with an award ceremony for participants in every age group and category.
SportMalta played a pivotal role in supporting this event by collaborating with Caritas, showcasing the power of teamwork and community engagement. Their partnership not only highlighted the importance of sports and physical activity but also exemplified the spirit of social responsibility and unity in making the event a resounding success.
