As part of the SportMalta Schools Sports Day St. Augustine School organized a vibrant athletics meeting at the Marsa Sports Complex, involving students from Year 7 to Year 11. This engaging event aimed to immerse students in various sports while teaching them the basics of athletic techniques and rules. It promoted physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, creating an enjoyable and educational experience for all.
Held at the Marsa Sports Complex, renowned for its excellent facilities, the meeting allowed students access to running tracks, jumping pits, and throwing zones. Activities introduced students to track and field events such as sprints, long jump, and shot put. Physical Education teachers provided clear instruction on each event, covering essential aspects such as form, safety, and competition rules, and breaking down techniques into manageable steps for easier understanding.
Following these lessons, students had the opportunity to practice their skills. They were organized into smaller groups, allowing teachers to offer personalized guidance. This hands-on practice enabled students to apply their skills in a supportive and encouraging environment, building their confidence and sparking an interest in athletics.
The athletics meeting was a resounding success, giving students a unique opportunity to experience sports in a professional setting while celebrating the European Week of Sports. Feedback from participants was highly positive, with many expressing enthusiasm for future athletics events. This successful meeting underscored the schoolâs dedication to fostering a healthy, active lifestyle among its students.
