St Nicholas College â Mikiel Spiteri Mtarfa Primary School celebrated SportMalta School Sports Day on Monday, 19 October 2026, as part of the European Week of Sport 2026. Under the theme âActive Kids, Happy Hearts!â, pupils participated in a variety of fun and engaging activities aimed at promoting physical activity, teamwork, coordination, and healthy lifestyles.

The day started with a lively tag game to warm up the pupils before they moved on to activities adapted to their respective age groups.
Pupils in Years 1 and 2 took part in the Treasure Chest Race, working in teams to collect different items and earn points, followed by a Balancing Circuit that challenged their balance, coordination, and body control.

Years 3 and 4 participated in Aiming with Different Implements, using equipment such as softballs, frisbees and rugby balls to aim at targets. They also enjoyed the Hoop Challenge, which encouraged communication, cooperation and problem-solving as pupils worked together to pass hoops along a line without letting go of one anotherâs hands.

Meanwhile, pupils in Years 5 and 6 took part in Dodgeball Fitness Frenzy, combining dodgeball with fitness challenges, and Target Bombardment, a team game that tested their aiming skills, accuracy, and strategic thinking.

The activities provided pupils with an opportunity to stay active, develop their physical skills, and strengthen relationships with their classmates in a fun and supportive environment. The day also highlighted the importance of teamwork, inclusion, and fair play, reinforcing the message that sport and physical activity can be enjoyable for everyone.
