SMC Patri Wistin Born Kalkara Primary School celebrated SportMalta School Sports Day on Monday, 19 October 2026, with a fun-filled day of physical activities aimed at promoting teamwork, coordination, participation, and the importance of an active lifestyle.

The day was organised into three sessions, allowing pupils from different year groups to participate in activities suited to their age and abilities. Pupils in Years 3 and 4, Years 5 and 6, and the ILD group took part in a variety of sporting challenges, while Years 1 and 2 enjoyed activities designed to develop their fundamental movement skills.
Older pupils participated in archery, football shooting, ring toss, and basketball shooting, testing their accuracy and coordination. They also enjoyed a series of traditional team races, including the three-legged race, relay race, and sack race, before bringing their sessions to an exciting conclusion with tug of war.

Meanwhile, pupils in Years 1 and 2 explored a range of activities, including an over-and-under obstacle course, parachute colour swap, collecting quoits and beanbags, an equilibrium obstacle course, and a pizza delivery challenge. Relay races, sack races, and tug of war added to the excitement, encouraging pupils to cooperate and support one another.
The activities provided opportunities for pupils to develop their physical skills, build confidence, and strengthen friendships through friendly competition. Educators also joined in the fun, taking part in tug of war against the pupils and adding to the day’s spirit of togetherness.

Despite a brief spell of rain during the first session, the activities continued, and pupils returned outdoors to enjoy the remaining challenges.
