The initiative involved students from Years 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6, providing them with opportunities to participate in a variety of physical challenges in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Through games and collaborative activities, pupils were encouraged to develop their physical abilities while learning the importance of communication, cooperation, and fair play.
Under the guidance of the schoolâs Physical Education teacher, pupils enjoyed a variety of activities, including parachute games, sack races, three-legged races, stilts, dribbling, and target shooting. They also took part in circuit challenges involving hurdles, balance blocks, and jumping exercises, as well as team games such as dodgeball and capture the flag. These activities encouraged physical fitness, teamwork, communication, perseverance, and good sportsmanship in a fun and inclusive environment.

The participation of teachers and Learning Support Educators (LSEs) added to the spirit of the occasion, with staff members joining some activities and supporting pupils throughout the day. Their involvement helped strengthen relationships within the school community and demonstrated how sport can bring students and educators together through shared experiences.
The day was marked by enthusiasm, laughter, and positive interaction, with pupils encouraging one another and showing respect regardless of the outcome of each game. The involvement of both students and staff created a strong sense of school spirit and highlighted the value of sport as a means of building connections and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Vittoriosa Primary Schoolâs initiative reflects the objectives of SportMalta School Sports Day, which encourages schools across Malta and Gozo to celebrate sport and recognise its importance in children’s physical, social and personal development.
Through activities that combine physical challenges with teamwork and enjoyment, Vittoriosa Primary School demonstrated how sport can encourage children to remain active, develop essential life skills, and embrace healthy habits from an early age.
